Aside from Reed, the school also will welcome seven new teachers. really interviewed them in the context of what they could add to the existing school community here, Reed said. wanted people who have shown their devotion to children and their belief in a peaceful environment. I really excited about the people we have coming here. said she brings a proven track record of love of children and a strong work ethic. been an educator since 1972 and I still love coming to school every day, Reed said. we do has such a strong impact on the lives of children. coming to Mount Rainier, Reed served as the assistant principal at Springhill Lake and Kenilworth Elementary schools and then as principal at Thomas Pullen for three years. Reed said she was dismayed to hear Catania was leaving, but excited about the opportunity to work at what she described as an extraordinarily special place. She referred to the tradition of maintaining 160 days of peace and its 10th annual Peace Parade at the school.
