Navesink races to challenge runners On Line Registration It is a benefit for the Middletown Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) and many volunteers from the group as well as the Jersey Shore Running Club will be assisting with the race. The races start at Bodman Park in Middletown and take the runners through some challenging hills as the event web site declares "It's a hill get over it" and most runners do. New this year, according to Race Director, Leslie McKernan of the Jersey Shore Running Club "a terrific new location for the post race party The Red Bank Elks Club with food, drinks, music, raffle prizes and a beautiful view of the Navesink River!" There will also be more information coming out soon on "team competition". That information will soon be posted on the official event web site. Last year the organizers faced some "challenges" of their own due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. The event was held successfully and sold out with 900 participants. Another sell out is anticipated with this popular event over a very scenic route. Registration for the Asbury Park Half is now open and a determination on the Jersey Shore Relay Marathon from Seaside Heights to Asbury Park should be forthcoming soon. Jersey Shore Running Examiner Bob Both has been involved in running at the Jersey Shore for over 20 years. He is an active participant in road races of all distances including marathons and triathalons. He is a Past President of the Jersey Shore Running Club, past Editor of the Club's Newsletter and currently maintains the club's web sites. He has managed many local events to include the Asbury Park Half Marathon, Jersey Shore Relay Marathon, Boardwalk Relay and other events. He is a Road Runners Club of America Certified Coach.
